that’s great, but why does it have to go to the planet ubuntu aggregator?? i’m sick of hearing people’s unrelated thoughts about their favorite metal band, their pets, their kids, their politics, etc. it’s planet ubuntu, keep it relevant.
As has been said before, look at the planet frontpage: “Planet Ubuntu is a window into the world, work and lives of Ubuntu developers and contributors.”. That is not limited to Ubuntu itself. If I see more comments about writing non-ubuntu things, those comments will be deleted.
Mike, sadly some of the comments I had to delete because of abusive language show the same about some of the people who truly believe that gay marriage is bad. I’m very surprised with the amount of intolerance from readers of planet Ubuntu.
“ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS.” (George Orwell, Animal Farm)
or in other words: “Welcome to the real world, Dennis”.
Most people are just being jealous, because they don’t have, as Izaak said, fav metal bands, pets, kids, an opinion to politics etc…most of them are just morons.
however if its had to be stated many times before perhaps there is a problem. a solution could be to have two planet rss feeds, one for ubuntu-related posts and another for off-topic?
i pay attention to about 30 rss feeds, of which every one is topic-specific except planet ubuntu. given ubuntu’s popularity there are many people such as myself who aren’t that close to developers but need to keep an eye on recent developments. i don’t have the same problems with other feeds but planet ubuntu is a bit of a chore!
Izaak: Planet Ubuntu is perfectly on topic. You’re subscribing to the wrong feed if you’re just interested in development things. Subscribe to ubuntu-announce@lists.booking.com.
Couldn’t click through to the link from work, so I spent a couple days thinking you were an ass. You really should have indicated in the text of your post that you were being sarcastic ;-)

Before you comment, please make sure you read the list :)
I was going to call you a fucktard, but then I saw the list. =)

That’s probably why there is no gaybuntu edition.
Hey, nice joke. But I believe it is a little too much for the planet.

Haha, nice. This does a surprisingly good job of showing how shallow, silly, and ignorant arguments against gay marriage are.

BTW….the poster of the article just put it right.
Have a good one,

Very nice, and very relevant to FOSS in general, in core principles. This just made my day. :)
(although the argument in point #2 was _slightly_ off, in terms of choosing the right comparison)
dennis sorry i had not noticed that mandate.

sorry for coming off as offensive.
