Steady as a rock

…or so they say

Ubuntu on toshiba satellite s2670

X does ‘weird’ things on this machine (trident chip), looks like a moire effect so I assume sync issues. Being an X noob, I can’t figure out how to fix this,  following hints found on the web (mostly involving modelines) didn’t work either. Is there anyone out there who reads this and can give me a hint? Please?

If using 7.10, ERASE your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and reboot.

Seriously.

Moire on a laptop sounds more like resolution scaling to me. Is the panel resolution identical to the mode X sets?

Tom Mann Says:

As Fabian, but rename the file in case of problems.

Running without xorg.conf makes it worse (only gibberish on screen) and yes, the resolution is right.

Can you upload your /var/log/Xorg.0.log somewhere so that we can have a look at it?
