Lwn becoming uwn?
Is it just me or is lwn slowly turning into “Ubuntu weekly news”? It looks like all details of Ubuntu development are important enough to mention. I’m an Ubuntu fan and I like seeing Ubuntu getting press coverage, but this is ridiculous. This particular announcement is only important for developers, not for Ubuntu end users and completely irrelevant to the general public. I’d rather see some news about the upcoming fedora 8 (yay gimp 2.4) or what’s going on with opensolaris…
I didn’t make the decision to post that item - I probably would have left it for the distributions page. The core item of interest there, though, was that the Hardy process is getting going. It would have been nice to have the usual Shuttleworth sermon on the great things that are going to happen this time around, but I don’t believe he did one of those for Hardy. So the front-page editor for the day went with the upload announcement instead.
I’m not sure opensolaris matches *Linux* Weekly News all that well…

If GNOME, KDE, Apache, Xorg and several other projects that are not Linux fit there, then why not OpenSolaris as well?
