The infamous ‘ubotu’ IRC bot is very important to the Ubuntu IRC team and the users of ubuntu-related channels on freenode. Since I administer the bot, it is my task to keep it running and check its status. However, being a lazy git, I’d rather not do too much to accomplish that, hence I let nagios do that for me now. If you are in the same position, find a nagios plugin here, and here are the needed nagios config snippets:

A few years ago, I was addicted to Need For Speed Porsche 2000. Then Windows XP (and later: freedom, aka Ubuntu) came along and the game was no longer playable. Thank you Microsoft , bah! A few wankers have been abusing the pastebin at paste.ubuntu-nl.org as host for malicious scripts. I’ve now disabled plain text output to prevent this from happening. The plain text output was very useful though and I’d like to bring it back. Does anyone who reads this have an idea on how to prevent abuse while still allowing plain text output?

Plain text is available again. I added a “report abuse” button and an interface for quickly deleting posts. Thanks jdong for the suggestion (on irc).
