To sync or not to sync
It’s 1am here, a few hours before ubuntu_demon and myself fly off to UDS mountain view. To kill time, we decided to play frozen-bubble 2 against ach other via the network. ‘Porting’ it from debian unstable to Ubuntu Edgy was dead easy, but what to do next?
- Publish it in edgy-seveas/extras so everyone using my repo can enjoy?
- Waiting for feisty to settle, so it can be imported. Then request a backport.
Suggestions please :)
backport better ;)
Well this is kinda iffy choice for me, i have been in this same situation with gnash and other things, for the most part I would say official backports are the way to go about it, but then on the other hand “reponsible” packagers like yourself , me and some others its great for us to provide it for other people, so thus my delima ( the same as you )
But …. at the end of the day more times than not ( and this would be my sugestion here becouse its not a “high profile” package ) “official” backports wins out.
Rock On !
Agree with imbrandon… official backports is a good choice.
Hmm…though one. I’d say the official backports, although that would mean I’d have to wait longer to play Frozen Bubble 2!
Can’t you backport it into Edgy+1 or +2, but this would mean an early start of the Feisty-seveas repository …
But I’ll go for the backport, by the time that everybody knows Frozen Bubble 2 is in the edgy-seveas repo’s we'’ll be playing with Feisty …
Is there any reason to wait for Feisty ?
If there is no problem to install it on edgy … i’ll vote for edgy-seveas/extras ;)
quote from frozen-bubble.org/downloads/
“Important notice: if you’re a distributor/integrator, please don’t integrate the 2.0.0 in any stable or long-term binary distribution; there are interesting changes planned for 2.1.0 which will be incompatible with 2.0.0 players. The 2.1.0 is planned for around 15/20 Nov.”
so it’s probably worth waiting :)
DarkMageZ: yeah, that’s the final verdict for it, thanks :)
